Joe Franc is an emerging British designer from Bradford, West Yorkshire. Since graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Three-Dimensional Design, he has remained in Newcastle to develop his design practice. Joe is currently a Designer in Residence within the university where he continues to create unique and experimental furniture pieces.
Taking inspiration from the industrial past of the North, Joe creates work that is bold and distinctive with a clear contemporary, industrial aesthetic.
Being materially driven, Joe's approach to design and making combines machine manufacturing methods with traditional craft in order to utilise the aesthetic and structural strengths of different materials.
Through his practice, Joe hopes to create characterful furniture pieces which celebrate their own construction. Through the incorporation of obvious bolts and other joining features and fixtures, Joe hopes to demonstrate and showcase the assembly of the objects he creates.
